Bibliography Styles Handbook
MLA Format:
Prefaces, introductions, forewords and afterwords
Begin this citation with the name of the author, giving the last name first, a comma,
the first name, and then a period. This should be followed with the name of the part being
cited (Preface, Introduction, Foreword, or Afterword). Do not underline or put quotation
marks around the name of the part being cited - merely capitalize the first letter. If the
author of this section of the text is different from the author of the complete work, then
after typing the title and a period, type "By" and give the author's name (first
name first). If the author of the piece is also the author of the entire work, then only
use the last name of the author after the word "By." Next, enter the name of the
editor, the city of publication, the publisher's name, the year, and the page numbers.
